Six months after she allegedly went on a pick-pocketing spree in Delaware, a fugitive was nabbed at a medical clinic in Philadelphia Tuesday by the U.S. Marshalls and Delaware State Police.
Stephanie Nicole Foster, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery, theft and attempted theft for a series of robberies on Oct. 28, 2014 in Newark, Delaware.
The Newark Police Department says that on that day, Foster went on a crime spree in the early evening.
Between 5 and 6 p.m. she is alleged to have removed a wallet from the bag of a victim while inside a Chipotle on East Main Street in Newark — the same Chipotle that saw a couple arrested last summer for having sex on its roof in public view. That victim’s cards were later at local businesses, police said.
At 6:15 p.m., Newark police say, Foster tried to pickpocket a victim inside an Alex and Ani jewelry shopjust blocks up the same road that the Chipotle was on.
That attempt was unsuccessful, police said.
“Upon realizing that her wallet had been removed by Foster, the victim confronted her and a brief physical altercation ensued,” the Newark Police Department’s report states. “Foster fled after surrendering the wallet back to the victim.” Then, at 6:46 p.m., Foster attempted another unsuccessful robbery, just blocks away again at 102 E. Main Street, near an Irish pub with a large outdoors area and a park.
“Foster attempted to snatch another wallet from another victim in the area of 102 E. Main Street, Newark, DE implying that she was armed with a gun in the process,” police said.
“After a brief foot chase the suspect was apprehended by a group of citizens, however, she subsequently escaped as they attempted to call 911.”
No further information about how Foster was tracked down, or the medical clinic where she was arrested, were available, police said.
Delaware State Police and the U.S. Marshalls, who arrested Foster, didn’t respond to requests for further details.
