Grown Up Day Camp
Philadelphians can head to Liberty Lake Day Camp as the venue partners up with Screamin’ Hill Beer Farm to once again throw the fan favorite Grown Up Day Camp this Saturday, Aug. 12. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors can join in on a wide variety of activities including rock climbing, gaga, boating, horseshoes, archery tag, mini golf, water balloon tosses, live entertainment and all sorts of games (expect some color wars.)
The pool and water slides will also be open for use, plus Screamin’ Hill Beer Farm will also offer up a full beer garden with farm fresh beers and an array of food trucks. Admission to the event is $30 in advance, $40 at the door. Food and beverages are extra.

Cantina La Martina’s Cemita Festival
This Sunday, Aug, 13, those looking for a good time can head to Cantina La Martina for the venue’s Cemita Festival, which will feature local vendors each selling their own version of a cemita (including a sweet option.)
As a release states, most of the participants are Latino vendors plus there will be a few surprise chefs such as Kensington neighbor Chef Jacob Trinh of Cáphé Roasters who will be participating with his own interpretation of a Vietnamese cemita. Chef/Owner Dionicio Jimenez of Cantina La Martina, who was recently a finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic,” will also have his own version of a cemita available as well.
The festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Cantina’s backyard, and cemitas run for about $15 each. Specialty drinks from the restaurant will be available for purchase throughout the event and entertainment will be provided.

Fireworks at Stella of New Hope
If a trip to Bucks County sounds like the plan for the weekend, Philadelphians can head to Stella of New Hope this Friday night for a fireworks display (which begins at 9:10 p.m.). The experience can be viewed from the venue’s outdoor patio, or from the river promenade at Stella’s brand new outdoor bar.
Visitors can also hit the venue early (reservations are available for dinner) to check out a variety of different drinks and dishes at the restaurant. As a release states, highlights include a Local Heirloom Tomato Salad ($15) consisting of marinated mozzarella pearls, local corn, kalamata olive puree, toasted pine nuts, and sherry-shallot vinaigrette; Jail Island Salmon ($36) served with coconut curried black jasmine rice with shrimp, stir-fried english and sugar snap peas, ninja radish, and yuzu aioli; and Pan Roasted Day Boat Sea Scallops ($41) with curried cauliflower, beluga lentils, purple cauliflower, cilantro-macadamia nut pesto and pickled golden raisins.

Bug Fest
Looking for things to do in Philly this weekend? According to a release, Philadelphians can join the Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University for a weekend celebrating more than just a few invertebrate things. Bug Fest will feature plenty of activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 12, including scientist-guided Bug Walks on the Parkway, a chance to see the famous “Roach Races”, opportunities to explore specimens from the Academy’s world-class Entomology Collection and ways to talk to Academy researchers and fellow bug enthusiasts. This event is free with admission.

TidalWave Festival
TidalWave will be calling the beaches of Atlantic City home this weekend, with beach-side performances happening from Aug. 11 to 13. Described as a “Roar On The Shore” country music festival, the event will feature Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Cole Swindell, Nate Smith and more.
