Stroll the Street

Every Thursday this summer, Manayunk is aiming to become a one-stop shop for all Philadelphians looking to stroll, sip and see a line-up of offerings from its local creative community. The area’s Stroll the Street initiative is returning in 2024 with an entire season of weekly themed events filled with live music, art, makers, vendors, activations, food/drink specials and more.

The theme of “Art” will take over June, “Music” in July, and “Pets” in August, and each night will always have a roster of different artisan vendors offering up jewelry, art, vintage clothing, gourmet hot sauce, candles, pet treats, and more. Specifically this week, for arts month in particular, the event will hold a Family Fun Night with caricaturists, face painting, games and kid-friendly fun on June 27. A full schedule of happenings and specials can be found online.

A Slice of History

This Friday, June 28,  teams of two will be able to compete in a series of Amazing Race-style challenges through the Historic District of the city with a new event dubbed “A Slice of History.”

Throughout the event, teams can visit iconic historic sites, meet some Founding Fathers and learn a few things “they didn’t teach you in school.” The event will then finish with pizza and beer in the Betsy Ross House courtyard, and the winning teams will be awarded their prizes. Participants can meet at the Free Quaker Meeting House (corner of 5th and Arch streets) at 6 p.m. for your first clue. More information and tickets ($60 for a team) can be found online.

Philadelphia Marketplace

It’s the last weekend for the seasonal Philadelphia Marketplace, and locals can head to Dilworth Park this Friday and Saturday before it closes for the summer.

This annual pop-up outside of City Hall highlights a revolving list of small businesses from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware offering up an array of goods spanning handmade artwork, home goods, plants and more, from noon to 6 p.m.

The list of vendors for the season include Bees & Wax Soap & Candle Co. (handcrafted soap bars, candles, bath and body products), Harleysville Beekeeper (locally sourced raw honey), Sean’s Cakes By The Pound (homemade pound cakes, cookies, cupcakes and other treats) and much more. While there, Philadelphians can also take a spin in the Rothman Roller Rink as well.
