Tipsy History with the Betsy Ross House
Tipsy History: A Revolution Brews officially kicks off this Friday, Sept. 10, and for the fall season the tour has been reimagined. According to the release, led by Martha Washington, this lighthearted look at history answers the question: When a revolution brews, what do the women do? America’s first, First Lady enlightens and entertains with stories of the contributions women made during the hard-fought war for independence. The tour begins at the Betsy Ross House and continues to the Victoria Freehouse where guests will enjoy an American hard cider or a British beer, depending on where their loyalties lie. Tickets for this particular event are $25 and must be purchased in advance, as tours will be limited to 15 people.

Doggie Yoga at The Bourse Food Hall
September is National Yoga Month, and to celebrate, The Bourse is offering a special class with adoptable pups in partnership with Morris Animal Refuge. There will be two sessions to attend this Sunday, the first being from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a second session from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. (attendees are required to BYO yoga mat). After you stretch it out, volunteers from Morris Animal Refuge will be on the 5th Street patio of The Bourse Food Hall selling a variety of merchandise and collecting donations for America’s first animal shelter. Tickets for the yoga classes on Sept. 12 are $25 per person and can be purchased on Eventbrite. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Morris Animal Refuge and larger donations can be made on-site at the event as well.

Fairmount Vintage Flea Market
The largest outdoor flea market in the Philadelphia area will be overtaking the grounds of the Eastern State Penitentiary this Saturday, Sept. 11. The official shopping event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (though they say some early birds are welcome) and proceeds from the event will benefit Bache-Martin School. The shopping will feature antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing and fine jewelry, textiles, primitives, glassware, artwork, vinyl and much more. Admission is free for this and parking is available in the lot adjacent to the market. Rain date is Sept. 12.

Doylestown Arts Festival
On Sept. 11 and 12, Philadelphians can head to the Doylestown Arts Festival for its 30th anniversary. According to the release, with art and music lining the streets, the festival will continue its mission to highlight independent creators, support small businesses, and raise awareness of the local cultural scene. The highly celebrated event is planned to take place in person in a safe and responsible manner. Free to the public, the festival will run daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year’s festival features over 120 independent artists who have been selected by an all-volunteer jury where art lovers and buyers alike can expect a wide range of styles and mediums ranging from fine art and photography to pottery, woodwork, glass and more. While exploring, visitors can enjoy a diverse selection of music with 32 acts across 5 stages. One thing to note for this year: There will be no food court, and instead, visitors are encouraged to check out surrounding restaurants.
