Ardmore Oktoberfest
It’s that time of year again where Philadelphians can raise a stein and Prost to the season. Oktoberfest is back officially this weekend in Ardmore this Saturday, Sept. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. and everyone is invited out to enjoy the 11th annual celebration.
While there, guests can check out a Picinic in Schauffele Plaza (adjacent to Tired Hands Fermentaria) filled with live music, food and more plus beer garden-style reserved seating; several beer selections that include local and seasonal favorites from Tired Hands Brewing Company and Levante Brewing; BBQ fare from Sophie’s BBQ and German favorites from Jack McShea’s; delicious desserts and more.
On top of general admission, there are also VIP advance table reservations available for $85 per party that include a dedicated table for three hours for four to eight guests, plus the first four beers to start the night. Tables are only available by advance reservation to limit and ensure the safety of guests. For those wanting to attend without a table reservation, advance beer ticket sales are $24 for four beer tickets, and $45 for eight beer tickets.
Feminist Flea Market
This weekend, House Cat’s Feminist Flea Market is back for an in-person a daytime market on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Love City Brewing from noon to 7 p.m. According to a release, there will be over 40 vendors at this weekend’s market selling everything you want and didn’t know you needed including handmade clothing and jewelry, live plants, candles, vintage accessories, homemade beauty products and much more. House Cat carefully curated the market to highlight the beautifully diverse identities and works of Philadelphia’s artists and businesses. As always, the market will be featuring artists who are marginalized for their gender, including women, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming folks, and makers who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) are prioritized.
The release also states that to shop at the market, there’s a $5 “entry fee”; and proceeds from the Love City market on Sept. 25 will go to Coalition for Black Trans Economic Liberation (CBTEL), which was created for and by Black, transgender Philadelphians to redistribute wealth, in its many forms, from non-Black people everywhere to Black LGBTQ+ people in Philadelphia. The community raised over $13,000 for local mutual aid organizations during the last two virtual markets and Feminist Flea is hoping to hit or exceed that number this time.
