LIT AF Comedy Tour hosted by Martin Lawrence
Martin Lawrence is bringing the LIT AF Comedy Tour to Philadelphia after taking a pause in 2020 due to the pandemic. Philadelphians can check out the live show for themselves this Friday, Oct. 29 at the Liacouras Center where Lawrence will be joined by fellow comedians Michael Blackson, Rickey Smiley, Donnell Rawlings, and Benji Brown, who will each take the stage in turns for a full night of comedy. As the release states, what Lawrence said of the LIT AF 2020 tour can be said of the 2021 tour as well: “Being on the road with this group of funny AF comedians is a blast. Bringing the tour back out on the road is always exciting, no two shows are the same and we all bring something different to the party.” The show officially starts this Friday at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available online.

HalloWE/FIT
This Halloween-themed workout class from City Fitness is offering Philadelphians two different opportunities to join in. Workout enthusiasts and those looking to sweat this weekend can join in on the WE/FIT style classes at their East Market location from 11 a.m. to noon and noon to 1 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 30. CF just asks all to come dressed in their Halloween’s best to workout. The event will include DJ Caution with his live entertainment, along with costume contests and special prizes and is for both members and non-members.

Philadelphia Argentine Tango School Tribute
This Saturday, the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School in Fishtown will be presenting the Underground Tango Ensemble in a concert dedicated to the memory of Raúl Jaurena, who died of COVID in 2021. As the release states, it will also be the release of their new album “El Charrúa, a Tango Tribute to the Music of Legendary Composer and Master Bandoneonist Raúl Jaurena.” All the music on the album was composed by Jaurena and arranged by the Underground Tango Ensemble. The evening includes a one-hour performance by the Ensemble from 8 to 9 p.m. followed by a toast to Jaurena, then from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., a night of Tango dancing—Milonga Qilombo—will ensue featuring live music by the Ensemble and DJ Kerry Kay. To attend the concert, there must be a proof of COVID-19 vaccination, provided in advance, and pre-registration. The cost of the Concert is $40, Milonga (Tango dancing) only $30, Concert and Milonga is $50, and Concert, Milonga with the CD is $65.

Philadelphia Film Festival
It’s the last weekend to take advantage of the Philadelphia Film Festival. In its 30th year, the PFF is bigger than ever and features 150 diverse films from 50 countries around the world. This year’s festival runs until Oct. 31 and will offer in-person screenings at all PFS venues (Philadelphia Film Center, PFS Bourse Theater, and the PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard) and select films will also be available on the virtual screening platform, WAtch.Filmadelphia.org. As the release states, to allow all patrons to experience the festival comfortably and safely, there will be health and safety protocols in place, including proof of vaccination and mask requirements, plus maintaining 50% capacity at all festival screenings with empty seats between patrons to ensure distancing. Motel Montana
Gunnar Montana Productions took over this year’s Philadelphia Fringe Festival with the production of ‘Motel Montana,’ and after being extended in its run, there are still a few more opportunities to check out the 50 minute show. Philadelphians can catch ‘Motel Montana’ until Nov. 14, with shows running to be $40 through Eventbrite. Called a “colorful, glittery explosion from the start,” the show takes place at The Latvian Society of Philadelphia and its official descriptions reads: “Led by Montana and his talented team of dancers, together, they take audience members on a glamorous, high-energy walk to the wild side. Every aspect of the show has been carefully choreographed by Montana, from the neon-filled set design, costumes, and performances, to the pop-infused rollercoaster soundtrack. Over the last decade, Montana has worked tirelessly to make his productions immersive theatrical experiences that audiences will not soon forget; Motel Montana is just that.”

Spooky Saturday
On Saturday, Oct. 30, Fall Fest & Spooky Saturday will be taking over the East Passyunk neighborhood of the city. Beginning at 11 a.m., Philadelphians can partake in fall-themed festivities including a free costume photo booth (for children, adults, and pets), live music and entertainment, grab-and-go pumpkins, trick or treating at avenue businesses and more. Adults on the other hand, can also indulge and explore 40+ craft and arts vendors, spirited cocktails, seasonal fare, and so on.
