Outdoor Movie at Dilworth Park

Pictures in the Park officially made its return to Dilworth Park last month, and kicked off a full schedule of free outdoor movies. The series, which is supported by TD Bank, will continue every Friday through Aug. 26 with showtimes beginning at sundown (approximately 8:15 p.m.) This week, Aug. 26, Philadelphians can check out ‘King Richard,’ with snacks available at the Air Grille Garden, plus beer, wine and cocktails for adults 21 and older. Bringing your own chair or blankets is also encouraged.

‘The Grown Ups’ at Theater With A View 

This weekend, Theater With A View’s latest show ‘The Grown-Ups’, will be coming to a close—but you still have a few chances to check out the show, which hails from Brooklyn’s Nightdrive theater company. The production, which runs until Aug. 27, takes place around a campfire at the company’s Pottstown location.

The story follows a group of summer camp counselors, and after their kids have gone to bed, the group meets up around the campfire to drink beer, chat about their days, plan the next, and finally look at their phones after having them locked up all day. When something awful starts happening in the world outside of camp, the counselors have to figure out how to keep camp safe and fun as the threat looms closer and closer. The immersive experience will put audiences up close and in the middle of the action, and there will also be s’mores and more surprises in store.

Hitchcock’s ‘The Lodger’ with live music by Relâche

A classic horror film comes to life like never before this weekend in Philadelphia. On Sunday, Aug. 28, visitors can check out a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Lodger’ (aka “the first true Hitchcock movie”) at 2 p.m. in Widener Hall at the Penn Museum. Throughout the duration of the silent film, live music will be performed by Relâche, composed by Jody Talbot and featuring Relâche percussionist Gene Koshinski.

As a release states, in 1999 the British Film Institute (BFI) commissioned Talbot to write a new score to accompany the film, live in concert. In doing so, Talbot divides his 90-minute score into nine movements giving “brilliant musical dramaturgy to the themes of suspicion, weakness, love, and murder.” Following the screening, film scholar Dr. Louis Schwartz, Professor Emeritus of Kutztown University, will provide commentary. The Creamery at Commons Cafè

On Aug. 26 and 27 from 2 to 6 p.m., The Logan Hotel will be offering a special pop-up chock full of ice cream, toppings and more. The Commons Café will officially be transformed into The Creamery, and while there, Philadelphians can try homemade ice cream from Urban Farmer. The pop-up, which calls The Logan’s newly renovated outdoor courtyard space home, will feature creative sundaes and flavors including: ‘A Night At The Movies’ sundae featuring vanilla ice cream, buttered popcorn, sea salt caramel sauce, chocolate-covered pretzels and vanilla Chantilly.

‘An Evening with the Housewives’

Live! Casino & Hotel is welcoming three guests from the Bravo universe this weekend. Dorinda Medley from ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’, plus Teresa Giudice and Dolores Catania from ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ will be at Live! for ‘An Evening with the Housewives’ this Friday, Aug. 26.

As the release states, the show will feature a live, moderated question and answer session with Teresa, Dorinda and Dolores, followed by a meet and greet with the fans. The Housewives will be spilling all the details about their personal lives, families, businesses, and how fame has changed their lives forever.
