‘Disney:100 The Exhibition’

The world premiere of this years-in-the-making showcase opened last month at the Franklin Institute, and will remain on display until Aug. 27. The new exhibit features 10 galleries covering 15,000 square feet of the venue all in commemoration of the 100-year celebration of The Walt Disney Company. Philadelphians will be able to walk through sections highlighting a century of work from the archives of WDC, and also, a brief look into what the future holds. 

All throughout ‘Disney: 100,’ museum-goers will not only see a showcase of what the company offers, but they will also take part in the classic magic of it all with a variety of interactive activations. From sifting through where characters from the brand were first imagined, to finding the origin of the many fairytales sprinkled throughout WDC’s pop culture, to even seeing what color palettes go into creating some of the most prominent figures in the company’s history—visitors will be immersed in it all. Tickets ($25-$45) are timed and dated, and advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended.

Hydroga

The 45-minute Hydroga experience takes Philadelphians to the 7th floor of the W Hotel Philadelphia venue. W Philadelphia partnered with The Lab—the city’s own concierge for health and human performance—to find new ways to use its WET Deck pool, which is heated to 98 degrees in the winter/early spring season.

Dave from The Lab leads the group (which spans 14-15 people every Sunday) through the underwater class, which involves a combination of dynamic, therapeutic and even philosophical movements that lead to one practice—healing.

While at Hydroga, Philadelphians check in at the W’s AWAY Spa. You get a robe for the duration of your experience, and you’re able to change in the locker room (note that you keep your stuff with you on the Deck, which has plenty of space), and you can use the same facilities to shower when class is done. Afterward, a coffee and juice bar is available, or, you could spend your time having a bit more of a dip in the pool. Tickets come out to be $45, and the next class takes place March 26 at 10:30 a.m.

‘The FRIENDS Experience: The One Near Philadelphia’

On display until May 29 at the King of Prussia Mall, this interactive and immersive pop-up delves fans into the world of Ross, Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Phoebe and Joey with set recreations and different scenes from the show having the spotlight put back on them.

The nostalgia-packed activation features Monica and Rachel’s kitchen, Central Perk, the opening fountain credit shots from the show, and much more. Additionally, fans can fully step into famous situations from the series whether it be helping Ross pivot his sofa up the stairs, or sitting in Joey and Chandler’s favorite recliner. 

Timed entry tickets are available starting at $32 plus taxes and fees.

Flyer’s Charity Carnival

This Sunday holds the opportunity to check out the Philadelphia Flyer’s Charity Carnival. While at the experience (which starts at 11 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Center), visitors can find a Coach Tortorella Hockey & Hounds Experience, which features a special meet and greet experience with Coach John Tortorella and special “furry” guests from PSPCA and PAWS.

The day will also hold a chance to eat breakfast with Gritty, an art gallery, a special sweepstakes, meet and greets with players (sign up ahead of time online) and more. Tickets for adults run for $30 and with each adult ticket, four children can get in for free.

Betsy Ross House 

There are a few reasons to head to the Betsy Ross House for Women’s History Month in Philadelphia. Historical women figures will be at the venue on particular days to tell their story this month: On Saturday, March 25, Philadelphians can meet Mary Crathorne, a chocolate and mustard maker who took over the business from her husband after his death in the 18th century. Then on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Once Upon A Nation storytellers will share short, interactive tales highlighting women through history.
