World’s Largest Slip N Slide

Big things are coming to the Lehigh Valley in the form of one favorite summertime activity. At Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, the world’s largest inflatable Slip ‘N Slide Tubing Course, is setting up shop this weekend spanning 1.5 miles over 20 courses down one of the Valley’s largest mountains. The family-friendly outdoor fun is open daily, Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m, but visitors should note that hours of operation may vary based on inclement weather.

Participants from ages four and up will have unlimited access to the Slide the Slopes in two-hour increments and Bear Creek will be running their Magic Carpet and Triple Chair to shuttle guests to the top of the course. The course officially opens this Friday, July 16 and will be open until Monday, Sept. 6.

Hear My Voice Event

According to a release, 30Amp Circuit, in partnership with the Leon H. Sullivan Trust, presents the first ever Hear My Voice event, the North Philly Family Dance Party, on Saturday, July 17, from noon to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the Sullivan Building. The event will include a variety of food vendors and food trucks, and while admission to the event is free, food is an additional cost.

Hear My Voice will also showcase the founders of and participants in the recently-launched Carver Sound record label. These special guests will launch their new merchandise line, share their music, and discuss the future of the label. The Hear My Voice events are specifically located in North Philadelphia, an area where events of this nature are rarely held, and welcome people from across the city and region. They are part of 30Amp Circuit’s larger commitment to supporting Black artists and Black-owned businesses.

National Ice Cream Day

For one special and delicious day, some top Philly spots are offering a unique spin on the classic frozen treat. This Sunday, July 18, Weckerly’s will be making their second Donut Ice Cream Sandwich Collaboration with Hello Donuts. The limited treat is made with vanilla ice cream and almond Florentines and is sandwiched between an Chocolate Espresso Donut, then dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. Philadelphians can grab their hand on the treat at Weckerly’s in Fishtown, Lil Pop Shop in West Philly, and through Hello Donuts.

Supper Club

Nothing pairs so well together like dinner and a show, and that’s exactly what Philadelphians will be getting in this monthly series. Supper Club showcases 3-4 comedians and/or other performances paired with a multi-course dinner through Balboa Supper Club, with the dinner featuring a seasonal 4-course menu along with amuse bouche and bread service. There will be a complimentary beverage or two at each event courtesy of different local spirit providers each month as well. Outside of that, the events are also BYOB.

For Supper Club this Thursday, July 15, comedians will include Dan Ostrov, Na’im Ali, Mae Casem and Brandon Vincent Jackson, while dinner will boast Tom Diver scallops, Crispy Stone Fruit and Honey-Lacquered Duck Breast in Shio and a Revivalist Gin cocktail. More dates for the future run through December. Supper Club takes place at American Silk on Orchard Street.

Cinema in the Cemetery

This weekend, one popular event is back from the Friends of Laurel Hill & West Laurel Hill Cemeteries in partnership with the Philadelphia Film Society. Originally started this season at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd last month, the event this weekend now moves back to Laurel Hill on July 17 at 8:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic, gather some friends or a date, and enjoy an evening under the stars to watch ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’ General ticket prices are $20 but may vary depending on age and Friends membership. In case of inclement weather, rain dates are scheduled for the following day as well. Tickets can be purchased online.
