Liberty Point

Liberty Point is set to open for the season this week on Thursday, April 11. The indoor/outdoor venue opened in the City of Brotherly Love in 2022, and what the space brings to the waterfront region of Philly is plenty of unparalleled views packaged in with multiple bars, a sampling of food and drinks and even a small music stage.

Food-wise, Liberty Point will be returning this year with lunch, dinner and catering options (for private events.) Highlights include the tuna tartar poke style, garlic butter soft pretzel nuggets, fried shrimp roll, baja fish tacos, bacon-wrapped shrimp, whipped ricotta, and much more. Drink-wise, Philadelphians can pair their fare with an extensive selection of craft beers, draught cocktails, specialty cocktails, and draught shooters.

Entertainment-wise, Liberty Point has plenty of programming to keep you busy all spring and summer long, starting with their event, the “El Movi Miento Cinco de Mayo” festival presented by Wooder Ice, on Sunday May 5. Marie Curie’s Radiant Ball

This Saturday, Philadelphians can head to the Mütter Museum for the first-ever Radiant Ball in honor of Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and a pivotal figure in medicine.

As a release notes, The Radiant Ball takes on a luminous theme in honor of Curie’s visit to the city a century ago, with shimmering lighting and performances by local jazz band, Drew Nugent & The Midnight Society, for an evening of dancing. Attendees will get after-hours access to exhibitions, plus the event will also include special access to collections related to Curie’s visit and work. Light bites and other refreshments will also be served. Tickets ($50) are available online.

ASHM Earth Day Free Family Day

On Sunday, April 14, the American Swedish History Museum will be hosting a Free Family Day in collaboration with FDR Park and the Dandelion Project. The day will feature activities and crafts inside and outside of the museum focusing on taking care of the earth—including paper making and solar printing workshops, a pollinator identification activity, wildflower planting, recycled material building, and more.

The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m., and Philadelphians can RSVP online.

‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’

Currently on the stage at the Walnut Street Theatre, ‘Beautiful – The Carole King Musical’ will showcase the six decades of work (and life) surrounding the popular singer/songwriter, Carole King.

Throughout ‘Beautiful,’ audiences will see King’s relationship with husband and songwriter Gerry Goffin, her camaraderie and fun competition with song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and more delving into the creative’s personal, as well as professional life.

The show, which will play at the theatre company until May 5 — closing out the season — is helmed by Director/Choreographer Richard Stafford, who most recently had his work shown on the same stage in the company’s production of ‘Rocky: The Musical.’ Tickets and showtimes are available online.

‘Cheers to Murder’

There’s another show running at The Red Rum Theater, and this one is an ode to the popular fan favorite sitcom, ‘Cheers.’ Titled ‘Cheers to Murder’ this whodunnit comedy show will run at the venue every Saturday (8 p.m.) until April 28.

As part of the immersive experience of the show itself, they’ve introduced an all-new drink menu tailored specifically to the production, a release notes, including “Diane’s Mule” and “Fraiser’s City Street Gin & Tonic.” There will also be brews and beers from a partnership with Cheshire Brewing Company.
