Houseplant Cat Club

The PSPCA has teamed up with Urban Jungle Philly to launch the Houseplant Cat Club in an effort to find homes for the organization’s less social cats. According to the release, these cats are non-aggressive, but due to their histories of being rescued from neglectful situations, require time and patience to truly flourish.

Over the course of the last year, pandemic plants have become very popular with individuals wanting to care for living objects while creating tranquil indoor sanctuaries during these uncertain and stressful times, so, the PSPCA is hoping these very same people will open their hearts and homes to cats who are in search of tranquility, hope and a new beginning. The organization will be waiving all adoption fees for these furry friends, and on top of that, each adopter will receive a $25 gift certificate to pick up a houseplant of their own from Urban Jungle Philly.

The Bourse’s Baseball Movie Night  

Old City’s own artisanal food hall has a new incentive to head to their venue for baseball lovers and film aficionados every Friday night. With their new outdoor movie series, ‘There’s No Crying in Baseball,’ Philadelphians will be able to watch 90’s baseball classics on the big screen on their Fifth Street patio for a safe and socially distanced outdoor movie screening from 7 to 10 p.m. each week in April. Each table seats up to four guests and costs a flat fee of $40, so groups of one, two, three or four only need to purchase one ticket.

This week’s film is ‘Rookie of the Year’, and moviegoers are invited to the patio starting at 6 p.m. to enjoy snacks and refreshments from select food hall vendors prior to the movie.

Emmy Squared Rooftop Yoga

Those looking to stretch out and eat some tasty food are in luck. This Saturday, Queens Village eatery Emmy Squared will be bringing back their rooftop yoga series with a twist. Co-founder and longtime yoga teacher Emily Hyland will partner again with Joanna Da Sylva to lead the rooftop yoga classes, with the first beginning at 10:30 a.m. on April 17.

The yoga session will then be followed by refreshments and food in the form of cocktails and pizza. The event is $35 per person, which includes the yoga class, a post-class cocktail, and 1/2 salad and 1/2 pizza from Emmy Squared. Inis Nua’s ‘How To Be Brave’

Inis Nua Theatre’s latest show from Welsch playwright Siân Owen showcases the exact struggle that we, as humans, go through every day. The American premiere of ‘How to be Brave’ will star Alice Yorke, Philadelphia Magazine’s 2019 Best Theatre Talent in Philadelphia, and will be directed by Barrymore Award-nominated director and Inis Nua Founder and Artistic Director Tom Reing.

The show follows Katie (played by Yorke) during a hectic morning that goes from bad to worse. The official descriptions reads: “Overwhelmed, Katie runs out the door and on a wild ride through Newport, Wales. Featuring a stolen BMX bike, a quick dip in the River Usk, and an impromptu public dance number, ‘How to be Brave’ is an uplifting reminder of how our hometowns shape who we are.”

‘How to be Brave’ will be recorded in advance and available for on-demand virtual viewing only from 12:01 a.m. on April 14 through midnight on April 25. Tickets are $10 – $15.
