Looking for some fun, unique and safe ways to spend your weekend? In the age of social distancing, Metro has you covered. A few Philly establishments have come up with inventive ways to still have fun this weekend while staying healthy.
Philly Fitness Pop-Up at Lumos Yoga & Barre
It’s time to get fit while also supporting some local businesses. Starting this weekend, Lumos Yoga & Barre in Fairmount will be hosting weekly pop-ups and collaborations with neighborhood and city fitness studios every Saturday beginning September 5th. Lumos says they’re doing this in the spirit of “community over competition” and will be offering Philadelphians the opportunity to join in on an array of outdoor fall classes ranging from yoga, barre, HIIT or strength classes. Participating studios include Yoga Habit, Three Queens Yoga, Teranga Yoga, Focus Barre & Yoga, Wake Up Yoga (Corina Benner), Mind Over Matter, Nonnormative Body Club, Leverage Fitness and Omm Yoga Studio. Spots for classes are $15, and it is recommended to reserve your spot ahead, spaces are limited. As a special treat, for classes on September 5, October 3 and October 31, there are each five pay what you can spots, prioritized for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks.

Brunch at The Garden Restaurant
Recently, the eatery located at the Barnes Foundation resumed service once again for brunch in their garden, and guests who head to the Foundation don’t need to purchase tickets to the exhibits to check out what the restaurant has cooking up on its menu—which is chock-full of brunch favorites and custom cocktails. The menu consists of a variety of sandwiches (think breakfast, lemon chicken, pastrami and more), salads (think caesar, Za’tar grilled vegetable, tuna and more), an assortment of pastries and other sweet and savory options. This weekend, the restaurant will also have a few specials for diners to try: Brisket Tacos (made with a Texas rub, pico de gallo, pickled red onion, queso fresco and salsa verde for $12), Korean Fried Chicken Wings (made with gochujang and sriracha buttermilk dipping sauce for $12), and a Summer Jersey Tomato and Watermelon Salad (made with feta, cucumber, fresh basil leaves and lemon-oregano vinaigrette for $12.) On the more spirited side of things, Philadelphians can also indulge in BOGO Bloody Marys all weekend long when dining at The Garden. The restaurant will be serving brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm with takeout options also available.

The Seafood Shack at Sunset Social
This weekend, those who stay in the city will still be able to get a taste of some classic summertime fare when they head to Sunset Social’s sister restaurant Walnut Street Cafe. The hotspot will be featuring a Seafood Shack pop-up with a wide variety of seafood offerings including oysters, fried clam strips, lobster rolls and more, all while embracing the theme with paper-lined tables. All of the items will be available for pre-sale via Tock, there also may be space for a limited amount of walk-ins as well.

Whiskey Garden at The Butcher Bar
Center City hotspot The Butcher Bar has decided to utilize their patio space to create their own Whiskey Garden. The space will feature a variety of seasonal cocktails including the ‘Mr. Tea’ made with bourbon, lemon, black tea and mint and the ‘Don’t Call it a Comeback’ made with rye, blueberry, lime, orange liqueur and sage. Butcher Bar is also offering buckets of beer with a selection of six domestic and craft cans starting at $20 and a new seafood trough featuring lobster tails, skirt steak, Alaskan king crab legs, grilled corn on the cob, house-made old bay potato chips and more. The trough feeds 2 to 4 guests, comes out to be $150 and must be ordered 24 hours in advance. The Whiskey Garden is meant to highlight Butcher Bar’s extensive whiskey and beer offerings and also serves the hotspot’s happy hour and regular menu.
