Looking for some fun, unique and safe ways to spend your weekend? In the age of social distancing, Metro has you covered. A few Philly establishments have come up with inventive ways to still have fun this weekend while staying healthy.
Fond
The East Passyunk hotspot recently decided to expand on their grocery-style take-away items offered for their Dutch (Fond’s sister restaurant) Pop-Up Food Market, plus add an additional day of service. Starting this week, Fond’s new hours and days of operations will be Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., and its going to be chock-full of delicious opportunities for all while social distancing.
Patrons can pick up a variety of delightfully delicious prepared meals and perfectly packaged foods to-go. A few highlighted menu items include Thai red curry with chicken, pork belly goulash, Italian or turkey hoagies, bacon or avocado breakfast heroes, roasted beet salad and more, plus pint and quart options for purchase including spicy marinara sauce, guacamole, mushroom soup and much more. Fond will also have a few specialty items on specific days (like cinnamon hazelnut buns with cream cheese icing on Saturdays and Sundays) plus an assortment of desserts to help curb your sweet tooth (like triple chocolate cookies, peanut brittle and an assortment of sorbets) and even beer and wine to go.
If you need a few other essentials, Fond also has you covered on that front. Patrons can pick up prepared foods, Rival Bros. bagged coffee, milk, farm-fresh eggs, cheeses, charcuterie and even toilet paper for just $1 per roll. According to the release, all grab-and-go item orders, including eggs, milk, apples, toilet paper and wine and beer, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner orders will be made up front in the restaurant. After placing the order, patrons can walk over to Fond’s side window to take home their entire order – all contactless.

Forsythia
Looking to make your weekend memorable? How about a delectable three-course tasting menu delivered right to your door?
French hotspot Forsythia from chef/owner Chef Christopher Kearse is here to satisfy all of your gourmet edible needs. To help spark your culinary curiosity, a la carte dishes being offered will change daily (check their website or social media for details), and all that’s needed on the patron’s end is to place an order for either take-out or delivery. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Philadelphians can check out Forsythia’s website to indulge in a three-course tasting menu as well, all packaged perfectly to taste. A few past highlighted creations from Forsythia’s menu include escargot with bacon marmalade and grits, artichoke and black truffle soup with puffed quinoa and lemon crème fraiche, olive oil cake with sour cherry jam and cream cheese and much more. As a special bonus, all delivery and takeaway orders include Forsythia’s legendary house-made Focaccia and Lavender Tea Butter.

The Twisted Tail
Need a drink? We feel you, and so does Headhouse Square hotspot The Twisted Tail. This weekend, The Twisted Tail is helping all those social distancing by opening a weekend citrus stand selling citrus and fresh-squeezed juices and mixers for at home cocktails.
According to a release, lemons and limes are three for a $1 and juice options include orange, grapefruit and fresh-preset apple at $6 a pint. The weekend citrus stand will practice safety precautions by including gloves, sanitizer and bags set up on the table so folks can fill up for themselves.
While swinging by The Twisted Tail, Philadelphians can also pre-order meals from their enticing menu for pick-up or even just have it delivered to their house if they choose to stay in altogether. The Twisted Tail also offers plenty of fun during the week with virtual happy hours, streaming events and more—all of that information can be found on their website.
