Looking for some fun, unique and safe ways to spend your weekend? In the age of social distancing, Metro has you covered. A few Philly establishments have come up with inventive ways to still have fun this weekend while staying healthy.

Brunch at The Garden Restaurant

Recently, the eatery located at the Barnes Foundation resumed service once again for brunch in their garden, and guests who head to the Foundation don’t need to purchase tickets to the exhibits to check out what the restaurant has cooking up on its menu—which is chock-full of brunch favorites and custom cocktails. The menu consists of a variety of sandwiches (think breakfast, lemon chicken, pastrami and more), salads (think caesar, Za’tar grilled vegetable, tuna and more), an assortment of pastries and other sweet and savory options. This weekend, the restaurant will also have a few specials for diners to try: chicken and biscuits with spicy aioli ($12), Huevos Rancheros with chorizo, eggs, avocado, ranchero sauce and queso ($10), and avocado smoked salmon toast with a summer tomato and cucumber salad ($12.) The restaurant will be serving brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm and The Garden will also be offering to-go brunch options as well including mimosas and Bloody Mary’s specials.

Devil’s Den Pucker Up! Sour Fest

South Philly craft beer bar Devil’s Den is inviting all sour-loving beer drinkers to join in on an interactive Zoom tasting class experience this Friday, August 21st at 7 pm. The class will be led by Meredith Rebar, a beer expert with Home Brewed Events, and will cover some of the wildest and funkiest sour beers on the market. Those who are interested and purchase tickets will gain admission to the Zoom class as well as a sour beer kit that is available for pickup at Devil’s Den. The kit will feature not only the beers you’ll need for the tasting event, but also glassware from Ommegang, and a bottle opener. Plus as an extra bonus, the popular watering hole will also be including a coupon for 10% off an order of food from their menu, available for outdoor dining or take-out. While at Devil’s Den, Philadelphians can also purchase their Cocktail for a Cause. This month’s cocktail is the PAWS Peach Shandy Cocktail made with peach shandy, peach schnapps, homemade peach lemonade and topped with a Belgian wheat. All proceeds from the cocktail will go directly to support The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society.

Micah’s Mixx at Walnut Street Market

This Saturday, Philadelphians can head to Walnut Street Market (located outside of the Walnut Street Cafe) at the Cira Green building to check out a lemonade stand that has been taking over the city by storm. Micah’s Mixx is led by 10-year-old CEO Micah Harrigan, a South Philly local who started selling his liquid treats (which include an assortment of teas and lemonades ranging from regular to blue raspberry and a special flavor of the day) fairly recently. The stand began to pick up speed and gained major attention, so much so that Walnut Street Market decided to partner up with the young entrepreneur and will be matching Micah’s sales for the day.
