Gagne opts for surgery

Simon Gagne is expected to miss six to eight weeks as he recovers from surgery on his right groin.

Gagne will undergo the procedure today. The Flyers forward was diagnosed with two small hernias in the area last week. He expects to be “100 percent” by the end of the season.

“I think it’s the right decision,” Gagne said. “It’s something that’s been kind of bothering me for a long time, not only this year, but from last season.”
