Hungry for more lobster? Get ready to rejoice because Luke’s Lobster is debuting their second Philly location this Friday, July 21 at 17 S. 11th St.
Founded by Luke Holden and Ben Conniff in New York City’s East Village in 2009, this cozy seafood shack is literally on a roll and has expanded across the United States and around the world, featuring a menu that includes clam chowder, salads, crab rolls and of course, lobster rolls.
According to Ben Conniff, who also serves as the President of Luke’s Lobster, the secret to a great lobster roll lies in quality ingredients.
“The biggest mistake people make is using mediocre lobster meat and then covering it up with mayo, celery, onions and chives,” he says. “You need to focus on absolute perfection when you buy and cook your lobster. Then don’t cover that beautiful meat with anything other than a very light touch of mayo, lemon butter and a tiny bit of seasoning.”
On opening their second location in Philadelphia, Conniff admits he is pretty excited.
“We have loved having our Rittenhouse location for the last four years and are so happy with our team and our guests down there,” he says. “We’ve been looking for the right next location for a long time, and we’ve finally found one that feels perfect for us. We can’t wait.”
