Glen Foerd set to host annual RiverFest celebration

RiverFest at Glen Foerd returns in 2024 for another day of family fun. The annual celebration, which will take place on Sunday, June 30, will feature open boating on the Poquessing Creek and Delaware River, educational activities about bees, arts and crafts with upcycled and natural materials, and more.

This family-friendly festival celebrates the natural beauty of the Delaware River and combines a morning and afternoon of fun, art, and hands-on environmental and educational activities, including open kayaking, canoeing, and boating for all. Boating ends at 1 p.m.

Enjoy live music while taking in the views of the Delaware River. Shop wares and support local artists, including Hinch Worm Art, Meg Lemieur Art, and Taiku.

Between noon and 2 p.m., a kite-making demonstration inspired by traditional kites of Vietnam and Afghanistan will also take place. The first 15 visitors will be offered a free kite kit so they can make their own kites at home.

There will be food available from the Walking Taco food truck and Mister Softee will be on site.

The grounds of Glen Foerd are open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are open for public visitation, free of charge, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests visiting the grounds have access to areas on all four floors of the house, where pieces from Glen Foerd’s historic collection are on display alongside installations by Artists in Residence.

Tour Glen Foerd’s Gilded Age mansion and enjoy the grounds with QR audio tour kiosks located throughout the park.

Glen Foerd is proud to host partner organizations from Riverfront North Partnership, The Block Gives Back, Tacony Lab, and the Pennypack Environmental Center.

The celebration is free to the public. Donations are appreciated but are not required to attend.

Glen Foerd is located at 5001 Grant Ave. in Northeast Philadelphia. Attendees are asked to register in advance by visiting Glen Foerd’s events page at www.glenfoerd.org/events.
