Gov. Wolf announces that he has cancer

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with a treatable form of prostate cancer.

Gov. Wolf said that the cancer was detected early, but it will require treatments that will last for the next several months, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Wolf added that the treatment will not affect his performance as governor, ABC stated in a related article. He is expected to begin treatment in the coming weeks after spending time with his family.

“I am very thankful that my doctors caught this cancer quickly and have worked with me to plan a treatment schedule that will address my medical issues and allow me to serve the people of Pennsylvania,” Wolf said in a statement quoted by ABC.

Wolf, 67, said the cancer was discovered after a regular doctor’s visit revealed “abnormalities,” according to the Post-Gazette.
