Magical Green Elephant pops up just in time for St. Patrick’s Day

With the lucky holiday right around the corner, Philadelphians can celebrate a little early with a new St. Patrick’s Day themed pop-up bar experience. The Green Elephant is taking over the previous home of Blume and the preceding White Elephant at Christmas and Pink Elephant for Valentine’s Day limited-time experiences. But this one will be full of Irish fare, green decor and lots of themed cocktails.

“We wanted to keep many of the popular Blume elements that shaped the space so well, including the seating bays and the pastel colored walls,” said owner, Teddy Sourias. “When deciding to do pop-up after pop-up, the design team kept many of these elements and then embellished with the applicable color to the Elephant, this one being Saint Patrick’s Day green.”

“The turnaround between Pink Elephant and Green Elephant was very short and the most challenging part was keeping the original space elements and making the decor blanket the space to where the shell of Blume is barely recognizable, replaced completely with Green Elephant and the shamrock covered, luck filled space. It was an ambitious project and we are proud of the designers and the whole team for the job they did. We hope everyone enjoys what we created.”

This all-new experience celebrates both St. Patrick’s Day and the start of spring and the Flower Show, the release notes. The design features a green sparkly new bar, leprechaun hats and four-leaf-clovers peppered throughout the venue, Irish scenes on the televisions, Irish tunes in the air, and even a new water feature behind the bar.

What to expect at the Green Elephant?

Food-wise, Philadelphians can find the Guinness Smashburger (served with cooper cheese and marinated whiskey onions on a brioche bun), Yuengling beer battered pickle chips, corned beef and cabbage eggrolls (served with Russian dressing), fish and chips, a Bavarian pretzel, chicken tender and fry plate, and a dessert of Irish potatoes with brownies and ice cream, to finish everything off on a sweet note.

Bar-wise, locals can find Irish beers on tap and variations like a Black & Tan, Snakebite, Blacksmith and Half & Half. Cocktails will span a variety of themed offerings including the Irish Mule (Jameson Orange, lime juice and ginger beer), Drunken Irish Potato (Rumchata, Malibu, Beach cinnamon whiskey and a cinnamon sugar rim), Blarney Stone Sangria (white wine, Kettle One botanical grapefruit, orange liquor, ruby red grapefruit, pink glitter and a lemon wheel), and more.
