Guard charged with drug dealing at NJ youth jail

A senior corrections officer and his stepfather have been arrested on charges of marijuana dealing, bribery and money laundering at a New Jersey correctional facility.

Nickoy Ellis, 31, and his stepfather Kingsley Ellis, 51, are scheduled to appear in Hunterdon County court on Friday facing accusations stemming from an alleged smuggling ring that provided synthetic marijuana to inmates at Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Clinton Township, New Jersey, NBC has reported.

An investigation alleged that Nickoy Ellis distributed contraband to facility youth while Kingsley Ellis laundered the money that came from his stepson’s illegal activity, NJ.com stated in a related article.

The younger Ellis is charged with misconduct, bribery, marijuana possession and money laundering, NBC stated. His stepfather faces charges of complicity to money laundering.

Nickoy Ellis’ bail has been set at $50,000 while Kinglsey Ellis’ bail was $30,000, according to NJ.com.
