Gun unit makes 34 arrests

City and state law enforcement officials announced Thursday that their joint Gun Violence Task Force has recently arrested 34 people on various weapons charges.

In a pair of the recent arrests, a 34-year-old man from Puerto Rico and a 57-year-old woman from the 2200 block of N. Fairhill St. allegedly conspired to purchase three total .40- and .45-caliber handguns at a Philadelphia gun store to resell illegally in Puerto Rico.
