Gunman sought in Frankford killing

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a gunman who fatally shot a 25-year-old man last month in Frankford.

Surveillance footage released by investigators on Wednesday shows the shooter walking in the area, near the intersection of Foulkrod Street and Frankford Avenue, before pulling out a handgun and opening fire on the victim, at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Maurice Corbett was struck in his thigh and died a short time later at Temple University Hospital, authorities said at the time. He lived a couple blocks away from where he was shot and served as a driver for the Share Food Program, a large regional food bank.

Investigators noted the shooter walks with a distinctive limp. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the PPD’s Homicide Unit 215-686-3334/3335; call or text 215-686-8477; or submit a tip at www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.

The city offers a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a murder case.
