Happ falls just short in ROY vote

J.A. Happ was arguably the most consistent starter on a team that won 93 games in 2009. That wasn’t enough to net him the Rookie of the Year award.

Happ finished just behind Marlins left fielder Chris Coghlan in the National League voting, which was announced yesterday.

Coghlan batted .321 with nine homers and 47 RBIs as Florida’s leadoff hitter for most of the year.

Happ went 12-4 with a 2.93 ERA?in 23 starts. Happ did not get the ball in any playoff games.
