Harry’s Ocean Bar and Grille and The Montreal Beach Resort in Cape May, New Jersey, is kicking off its summer programming this weekend with events, programs, new dishes, drinks, and more—and some of which will be on site until the fall.
Harry’s, located directly next to The Montreal, is known to hold the beachside area’s only rooftop deck for dining and drinking, and those who head to the venue will be able to catch live entertainment and fare from a new executive chef, Matthew Calvert this weekend.
Calvert, who is from Cape May, will be putting his own spin on Harry’s typical fresh local seafood and signature sandwiches with an emphasis on “freshness and flavor.”
The new menu will feature his award-winning New England Clam Chowder (filled with clams, potatoes and bacon all together in a rich and creamy mixture) plus additional upcoming specialties including Loaded Pulled Pork Nachos, Crispy Fried Calamari and Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese.
“Under my leadership I plan to provide fast family friendly service for breakfast and lunch with exceptionally done classics and modern evolutions that adhere to Cape May’s historical core values for the dinner crowd,” said Calvert in a statement.
Other fan-favorites from Harry’s — which is open daily during the summer months serving breakfast, lunch and dinner — include Cape May salt oysters, crab dip, fish tacos, a Cajun buttermilk chicken sandwich, seared scallops, Faroe Island salmon, fish and chips, linguini with clams and more.
Beach service is also available where you can order from the menu and have your order delivered from the kitchen to the beach, a release states. Other changes and returning favorites at Harry’s this year includes upgrades for summer breakfast service, expanded hours, weekly food specials, rotating weekly cocktail specials and room service for guests of The Montreal.
Speaking of, on the bar side of the establishment, Harry’s is known for its orange crushes, and a full menu of local beer, summer cocktails and wine.
And as a release states for wine lovers, the adjacent The Wine Cellar is next door and connects inside Harry’s. As the establishment states, the venue is the one-stop-shop on the ocean-front that offers “elevated selections for more experienced wine lovers and spirit forward drinkers, plus a host of accessible and staple selections for those seeking the familiar and the casual.”
Entertainment-wise, specifically for the Fourth of July weekend, festivities kick off on June 29 with John King Acoustic, followed by five days of live music, including a few nights of dueling pianos (a full line-up is available online.) Other specials running throughout the weekend at the establishment include Sea Isle Sunday’s with $7 Sea Isle iced teas, the Cape May Independence Day Parade on the 1st, fireworks on the 4th and plenty more.
Past the weekend, visitors can head to the sea-side escape on Wednesdays for Orange Crush night, which will kick off with $8 orange crushes all day long.
This weekend and beyond, The Montreal Beach Club is also open to both resort guests and the public. Guests of the club will receive complementary two beach chairs or two chaise lounges, umbrella, and beach tags and towels for everyone in their party (children under 12 will not need a beach tag). Additional chairs, umbrellas, and towels can be purchased for use. Harry’s Food Service will also be provided from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily weather permitting.
