Harry’s and The Montreal Beach Resort serves freshness and flavor

Harry’s Ocean Bar and Grille and The Montreal Beach Resort in Cape May, New Jersey, have been celebrating the summer with a series of events, and that will continue into September as well.

Harry’s, located directly next to The Montreal, is known to hold the beachside area’s only rooftop deck for dining and drinking, and those who head to the venue will be able to catch live entertainment and fare from a new executive chef, Matthew Calvert.

Calvert, who is from Cape May, has put his own spin on Harry’s typical fresh local seafood and signature sandwiches with an emphasis on “freshness and flavor.” The new menu spans his award-winning New England Clam Chowder (filled with clams, potatoes and bacon all together in a rich and creamy mixture) plus additional upcoming specialties including loaded pulled pork nachos, crispy fried calamari and smoked gouda mac & cheese.

Beach service is also available where you can order from the menu and have your order delivered from the kitchen to the beach, a release states. Other changes and returning favorites at Harry’s this year includes upgrades for summer breakfast service, expanded hours, weekly food specials, rotating weekly cocktail specials and room service for guests of The Montreal.

Those who are Crush fans will also be in luck with a dozen choices on the menu spanning the “famous” orange, Creamsicle, grapefruit, Key Lime, half & half, strawberry, mango, peach, watermelon, lemon and pomegranate. Visitors can enjoy the whole assortment of libations, especially on Cape May Crush Wednesdays, with karaoke on the deck from 5 to 9 p.m. and Crush’s priced at $8 all day.

Entertainment has also been added to the menu at the Resort. Throughout August and September, guests can check out a dueling piano bar (Aug. 18 and 19), Mannie & Nate (Aug. 21), Neil McGettigan (Aug. 22), Tony Manning (Sept. 3), and more. A full line-up is available online.

Another activity at the sea-side destination will happen on select dates. Tea at the Sea will take place Aug. 15 and 27, plus Sept. 10 and 24 and will feature a “three-course social event that combines light bites, breathtaking views of Cape May and an enriching historical discussion all about America’s first seaside resort destination.”

As the release describes, Cape May is known for its Victorian architecture and rich heritage, so Tea by the Sea takes place on the sundeck atop Montreal Beach Resort with a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a chilled tea and lead to their tables to begin the first course and to discuss historic Cape May from past to present.

The final course, consisting of sweet treats will be available along with a question-and-answer session. Tickets are on sale now through Harry’s, The Montreal or through the resort’s official website. If tea isn’t your speed and you’d prefer some vino however, Harry’s will also host a special wine pairing dinner on Sept. 7 as well, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Wine-wise, patrons will take a tour through California’s Sonoma Coast, Monterey & Russian River Valley, with an assortment of paired gourmet cuisine. Dishes span citrus ceviche, grilled shrimp skewers with mango salsa, scallop risotto with parmigiano reggiano, grilled lamb chops over mushroom ragout and molten lava cake with raspberry gastrique.

Later in the fall, the venue will be hosting events like Oktoberfest and The Cape May Jazz Festival. The former will be a roof-top event with seasonal beer on tap and treats like a Bavarian pretzel, while the latter will return to the Cape May Convention Hall this Nov. 9-12,  with live performances for the first time ever at Harry’s.

Other activations happening include the Cape May Brew Package for Two (which spans items and experiences like a $20 gift card to Cape May Brewing and Harry’s, a tour of the brewery, 10% off certain merchandise and more.)

September will also hold NFL Sundays, Girlfriend’s Weekend in September, and partnering up with charities (like Alex’s Lemonade Stand and activations for Breast Cancer Awareness Month), and even a Tito’s Doggie Day at the Pool (on Sept. 29).
