Haunted Heights brings spooky season to new heights at Assembly Rooftop Lounge

Haunted Heights, things to do in Philly
Assembly Rooftop Lounge

Known for its incredible views of the city and inventive pop-ups (pro note, visit this rooftop bar during the summer for one) Assembly Rooftop Lounge is debuting a new activation for October: Haunted Heights.

Opening this weekend on Friday, Oct. 20, and running through Halloween on Tuesday, Oct. 31, this new activation will feature spirited décor, scary movies on TVs throughout the venue, themed cocktails, and more – plus a DJ spinning spooky tunes and classics on Fridays and Saturdays.

What brings Philadelphians to this rooftop establishment is typically the sights, but what keeps them there is the libation menu, and for Haunted Heights, Assembly is pulling out all the stops. The Mashing Pumpkins ($17) for one is made with George Dickel No. 8 Tennessee Whiskey, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, Turbinado syrup and lemon juice, while the Red Rum ($16) is made with rosé, Cocchi Rosa, dry vermouth, strawberry and lemon.

Other cocktail highlights this spooky season in Philly includes the Porto Ween ($16), made with Evan Williams Bourbon, port wine, mango coriander syrup and lemon, the Hocus Pocus ($17) made with butterfly-pea tea infused Stateside vodka, St. Germain, lime and club soda and the fan-favorite at Assembly, the Rose Gold Margarita ($17) made with rose petal infused El Jimador Reposado, dry curacao, agave and lime juice.

To complement the robust cocktail menu, Assembly is introducing a very special dessert as well, aptly dubbed Twilight Delight ($12), built with red velvet bread pudding, bourbon anglaise, and topped with a crispy meringue bone, a release states.

But there’s another reason to head to this venue located inside of The Logan Hotel, with a Drag High Tea celebrating Disney’s worst villains on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This Halloween-themed two-hour drag show will be hosted by Dominique Lee alongside Mandy Mango, Heavens 2 Betsey, and Jean Louise.

The event will ultimately feature the show and also, a four-course meal from Executive Chef Sonny Ingui, inspired by “love-to-hate Disney antagonists.”

The bread course is Kronk’s Spinach Puffs, the first course will then be titled Ursula from ‘The Little Mermaid’ (aka a charred octopus with crispy balsamic potatoes, chives and red pepper coulis), the second course is dubbed Jafar from ‘Aladdin’s Kabab koobideh (with saffron rice), the third course is then Hades from ‘Hercules’ Devils on Horseback’ (with fig vin cotto and pomegranate seeds), and to end things on a sweet note, the dessert will be the Queen of Hearts from ‘Alice in Wonderland’s Wonderland Tarts.

Tickets are $75 per person and include a welcome cocktail on arrival, tickets can be purchased online (must be 21+ with valid ID to enter).

Assembly Rooftop Lounge is open for walk-ins based on availability. Parties of six or less can make reservations though their website with a cover charge of $10 per person, the release finishes. Larger parties of seven or more can also reserve one of Assembly’s pods for a food and beverage minimum. Pod reservations can be made by e-mailing info@assemblyrooftop.com.
