Things to Do

Head to Haunt for Halloween-themed fun

Last year, Haunt debuted on top of Townsend Wentz’s new Pearl Tavern (formerly the Irish Pub on 12th street.) The speakeasy styled establishment boasted a dark yet entertaining atmosphere for Halloween-lovers and those just looking for a good time alike, and the menu matched the aesthetic in terms of creativity. Now, Haunt is back open for business and is welcoming patrons the chance to once again delve into everything Haunt has to offer, but this time the antics will take place on the first floor of the establishment.

Originally, Haunt was supposed to be the pilot for a series of pop-up bars to debut on top of the Pearl Tavern, but as 2020 has become a year full of change, now the venue will be hosting a new and updated version of Haunt for the remainder of the month.

Philadelphians can sip on eight different themed cocktails while here, including the Poisoned Apple (made with Crystal Head Vodka, Reed Apple, Sage and Lemon), Midnight Fog (made with Tequila, Pineapple, Lime, Blackberry and Tajin), Mischief Night (made with a mix of Rye, Averna, Stout Reduction and Chocolate Bitter), Scream Queen (made with White Rum, Branca Menta, Raspberry, Lime and Rosemary) and more. The establishment is also mixing it up when it comes to their shot options as well: those looking to indulge can shoot back the Trick or Treat (Screwball Whiskey, Young’s Double Chocolate and Stout), the Monster Mash (Tequila, Watermelon Gose), the Industry (Fernet and Coke) and more

However, if cocktails from Haunt aren’t exactly what you’re looking for, the pop-up bar is also offering an assortment of different canned and draft beers ranging from pilsners to ciders, and some vino for those who are planning on sipping on some red or white wine as well.

To pair along with the drink menu as well, Philadelphians can also munch on a few menu items such as the Fall Hummus (with pumpkin seeds and grilled pita), Beef Tartare (with chopped fillet cornichons and sourdough toast), Meatballs (pork meatballs with roasted tomato and mozzarella cheese), Mushroom Quesadilla (with goat cheese and romesco), Bacho Fries (waffle fries with seasoned beef, shredded cheese and burger sauce) and the Pittsburgh Salad (with grilled flank steak or portobellos) and much more.

In addition to all of Haunt’s happenings, the themed eatery is also offering a new addition on Sundays, the Witches Brunch. The brunch will be served all day from 11:30 am – 8 pm with $7 Blackberry or Blood Orange Mimosas, $10 Spicy Bloody Mary’s, plus all of Haunt’s accomplished themed specialty cocktails.

According to the release, adding a twist to the fun this year, Haunt will offer all Halloween-themed cocktails and other beverages, to-go via its front window overlooking Walnut Street. Those wishing to dine in and snag a table at Haunt should do so by making a reservation on Resy. Haunt Halloween Bar is open Wednesday – Thursday, 5 pm -10 pm, Friday – Saturday, 5 pm – 11 pm, and Sunday for Witches Brunch, 11:30 – 8 pm.
