Here’s what Philly Googled in 2019

Google recently shared it’s “Year in Search,” which reveals what everyone has searched for in 2019. 

To determine the 2019 “Year in Search,” Google looked at the trillions of search queries over the year. Google said that these aren’t the most searched for topics by the number of searches because those don’t often change from year to year. They looked at trending queries that had a high spike in traffic over a period of time from 2018 to 2019 and put together a list of the top 10 trends per city. 

Google shared with Metro the top trending words for Philly: 

Bryce Harper

Nipsey Hussle 

Antonio Brown

Jussie Smollett

Cameron Boyce

Game of Thrones 

Avengers Endgame 

Irs.gov refund

Disney Plus 

iPhone 11

The commonalities between the United States and Philly were Nipsey Hussle, Antonio Brown, Jussie Smollett, Cameron Boyce, Game of Thrones, Avengers Endgame, Disney Plus and iPhone 11. The two local items that didn’t make national searches were Bryce Harper and Irs.gov refund. 

In fact, Bryce Harper was the most highly searched item in the Philly area. Harper is a player for the Phillies. According to spotrac.com , the 27-year-old signed a deal; for $330 million and 13-years.
