As a part of his Hero Plaque Program, lawyer-advocate James Binns will dedicate a plaque tomorrow to fallen Officer Harry Cooper, who was killed in the line of duty on May 4, 1926.
Cooper was off-duty when he responded to a bank robbery at the Olney Bank and Trust Company at Rising Sun and Wyoming avenues. He was shot and killed as the five armed robbers tried to escape.
The ceremony will take place at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 1326 Spring Garden Street, at 11 a.m.
The event marks the 99th Hero Plaque dedicated in memory of a Philadelphia police officer and the 236th plaque installed as part of the Hero Plaque Program.
