The act of voting is one of the most significant ways we can shape our world, even though it may seem distant from everyday life. For those who identify as “apolitical” or feel that politics don’t truly impact them, let’s consider how closely our communities are affected by what happens at every level of government. From healthcare access to education funding and job creation, these decisions are not random; they are direct outcomes of the leaders we elect.

For Latinos, our power at the polls has never been greater. Across the nation, we are the fastest-growing voting group, representing a powerful, diverse community with the potential to influence everything from local policies to national initiatives. When we cast our vote, we’re not just choosing a candidate; we’re speaking up for the needs and dreams of our families, our businesses, and our neighborhoods. The issues at stake—like affordable housing, education quality, small business support, and community safety—are deeply intertwined with our daily lives.

Being “apolitical” is not truly possible in the world we live in today, where decisions made by elected officials influence even the smallest details of our lives. For instance, think about community health programs, school lunch offerings, the parks in our neighborhoods, or even the condition of our roads—these are funded and maintained based on policies shaped by those in office. When we choose not to vote, we allow others to determine what happens in our community, our state, and our country. Our silence is, in effect, a vote—a vote to let others decide for us.

Voting is our most direct way to make a change. Imagine if we all showed up to vote: how our collective voice would call for more support for our businesses, fairer policies, and the representation we deserve. We each have a role to play in creating the world we want, not just for ourselves but for future generations.

So, let’s make our voices heard. Let’s vote not only because we have the right, but because we have the responsibility. Together, our votes can bring positive change, inspiring a brighter future for our families, our communities, and all who will come after us.
