One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a pair of separate hit-and-run crashes over the weekend in Philadelphia.
The deadly collision happened just before 11:30 p.m. Friday at 57th and Chestnut streets in West Philadelphia, according to police.
Investigators said a driver inside a Ford Focus was traveling south on 57th with a steady green light when the operator of a black Ford Explorer blew through a red light while heading east on Chestnut.
The driver of the Focus was ejected from their vehicle, and medics pronounced the person dead at the scene, authorities said. The PPD has not publicly identified the victim.
On Sunday, just after 12:30 a.m., a driver hit a pedestrian at Trenton Street and Lehigh Avenue in Kensington and fled the scene, law enforcement officials said.
Police said the person was attempting to cross Lehigh at the time of the crash, and that the fleeing vehicle may have been a black Jeep Wrangler.
The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital with a fractured hip, injured leg, cuts and a head injury, according to the PPD. Authorities did not provide any additional details.
Anyone with information about either crash is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
