Holmesburg shootings leave 2 dead

Detectives were busy Monday in Holmesburg after two fatal shootings separated by just a block and a few hours.

It started at 1:15 a.m. when officers found a man, believed to be in his 20s, with gunshot wounds to his head and right leg in the back alley of the 4500 block of Bleigh Avenue, authorities said. He died at the scene.

Later, just after 4:15 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the eye in the driveway behind the 4600 block of Loring Street, police said. He also succumbed to his injuries.

A police spokesperson told Metro that investigators had not yet determined whether the homicides were related. No arrests have been made in either case.

In Kensington, someone shot a 35-year-old man in the chest at around 4:30 a.m. Monday on the 3100 block of Custer Street, authorities said. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
