An 83-year-old Holocaust survivor could face up to 10 years in prison after he hit a bicyclist with his car and fled the scene. The bicycle rider, a 58-year-0ld man, died shortly after.
Abraham Chapnick, of Howell Township, NJ, Monmouth County, surrendered to police on Monday and released after posting $150,000 cash bail, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
Chapnick is charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death.
The prosecutor’s office said Chapnick, who the Asbury Park Press reported was sent toBuchenwald concentration camp when he was 11 years old, hit Charles McHugh on March 12.
