Working at Metro keeps me really busy. When I started, I had this grand plan of preparing homemade, wholesome lunches everyday — but that lasted about a week! Luckily, one of my co-workers recommended Sweetgreen on 18th and Chestnut and I loved it so much, I go nearly everyday now. (I’m currently the mayor on Foursquare, in case you’re wondering!)
While they have a solid selection of staple salads (the Kale Caesar is bae), their seasonal options add a little excitement to the 9 to 5 grind. Now that it’s August, it’s all about peaches like their delectable Peach and Goat Cheese salad.
Made of organic mesclun, organic baby spinach, basil, toasted almonds, local peaches, and topped with a balsamic vinaigrette, this salad is light, crisp and won’t weigh you down at the office. What’s more, the peaches are out-of-this-world fresh and their mellow sweetness pairs well with the tangy goat cheese. The toasted almonds add a nice crunch to the mix, too.
Even though summer is coming to an end, there’s one thing to be happy about and that’s peach season in Pennsylvania. They’re ripe for the pickin’ and nothing goes better with a healthy salad than Franklin Fountain‘s peach ice cream for dessert.
