Indego bikes are going strong

You’ll see them all over Center City — blue Indego bikes, available through the new Philadelphia bike share program.

“Indego is on track to have provided nearly 20,000 trips by end of the second week of operations,” said Andrew Stober, chief of staff of the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities.

According to Stober, over the past two weeks the most popular stations have been:

-Rittenhouse Square — 2,000 trips (began or ended)

-The Kimmel Center — 1,300 trips

-City Hall/MunicipalServices Building –1,300 trips

-23rd and South Street — 1,250 trips

-The Philadelphia Museum of Art — 1,200 trips

“I’m not from around here, so it’s nice to be able to use a bike here,” said Catherine Chambers, 28, as she returned her bike to the Municipal Services Building dock.

She was visiting from Houston and rented an Indego to ride back from the Art Museum.

“It’s really easy to use, it takes less than a minute. I used the website to find where to pick it up and drop it off,” she said.
