Embattled congressman Chaka Fattah has another day to add to his collectionof terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days.Today, news broke that his lawyers want to quit – because they say they’ve not received a dime from him. The Legal Intelligencerexplained that the law firm of Mincey & Fitzpatrick filed a motion, unsealed today, that attempts to severe its representation of Fattah. The firm insisted to the court that the congressman “has failed to honor his fee agreement and has made no suitable arrangements to so comply.” RELATED: Dwight Evans trounces Chaka Fattah, Brian Sims in 2nd District race poll The firm added that despite making several payment arrangements, Fattah “has knowingly defaulted upon each.” Fattahcurrently faces federal bribery and corruption charges but insists he’s still running for reelection. Yet, questions continue to swirl about the former political powerhouse’s financial health. WHYY’s Newsworks reported that Fattah’s campaign treasury was “nearly empty” with a mere $2,067 cash on hand. In a recent poll of 2nd District Democratic primary voters –and despite representing Philadelphia in Congress for over two decades –Fattah currently trails challengerstate Rep. Dwight Evans by 16 points.
