At InnovAge, the focus isn’t just on the seniors enrolled in InnovAge LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly) and PACE (Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) — it is also on the people who love and care for them. For many family caregivers, InnovAge is more than a provider of healthcare services; it’s a lifeline, a partner, and a source of peace of mind.

“There is an entire care team dedicated to her needs,” says Melissa Lloyd, a caregiver for her mother, Pearl. “They are all connected, daily, and all have access to her chart. That is such a huge plus, because no one is guessing about her care and I’m not having to play doctor-roulette to get her the care she needs. It’s all taken care of by a team that not only knows her but that genuinely cares.”

Empowering caregivers everyday

Family caregivers often juggle full-time jobs, households, and complex medical needs of aging loved ones. InnovAge steps in with a full-circle model of care that reduces the day-to-day stress for caregivers and enhances quality of life for seniors. The program provides medical care, transportation, day center activities, and even meals — all designed to keep seniors living safely and independently in their own homes.

Carla Vigil cares for her father who is also enrolled in InnovAge. “It’s a blessing to have people who know what they’re doing and love what they’re doing. I am a full time nurse, so it has made it so much easier for me knowing they are picking him up, taking him to a safe, supportive, and active place, then bringing him safely back home. It has really lifted a lot of stress off my plate.”

Spotlighting older Americans and family caregivers

In honor of Older Americans Month in May, InnovAge released an uplifting and fun video feature highlighting how InnovAge encourages and supports a healthy, positive, and socially active experience for enrolled seniors. This safe, family-oriented environment creates peace of mind for participants, and also for their families and friends who want the best for their loved ones.

In another show of support for caregivers, InnovAge sponsored the PBS documentary ‘Caregiving’ on PBS. Executive produced by and featuring Grammy-winning actor Bradley Cooper, and narrated by Emmy‑winning actor Uzo Aduba, the film offers an in‑depth look at the challenges and triumphs of America’s caregivers. ‘Caregiving’ is now streaming on PBS.

A Partner in the journey

From help with care coordination to emotional support and education, InnovAge makes it easier for caregivers to manage the complexities of their aging loved ones. That includes direct communication with care teams, respite options, and a consistent focus on keeping families informed and involved.

For caregivers like Melissa and Carla, the support they receive through InnovAge, and its teams of compassionate caregivers, is more than helpful — it’s life-changing. “He spent many years of taking care of us kids and I’m grateful to have him at home,” says Carla. “It means a lot that he is comfortable. And this gives me space to just be his daughter again.”
