New Jersey Governor Chris Christie released a campaign video ahead ofwhat is expected to be an announcement that he will run for the 2016 Republican nomination. It’s called “Telling It Like It Is,” and the video is designed to reinforce Christie’s reputation as a guy who, depending on your outlook, either yells at people or offers sober advice to unreasonable people. It takes place at a town hall meeting. We here at Metro wanted to make a drinking game around that video — but we’re a big tent, and we didn’t want to exclude the teetotalers among us.
So here it is: the Chris Christie campaign video drinking game.
The rules are simple:Take a drink every time one of the items listed below appear in the video. (Hint: none of these appear in the video.)
-If you can spot an African American person, take a drink.
-If you spot anyperson of color in the video, take a drink.
-If you spot former Deputy Chief of StaffBridget Kelly, or if you hearChris Christie mention Bridgegate, take a drink. (This one is borderline, because there’s a woman in the background who kinda sorta looks like his formerKelly, who is under federal indictment in the Bridgegate scandal.) -If you hear Chris Christie say anything about public policy, take a drink. (This one is puzzling, because the video is called “Telling It Like It Is,” and he really doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know.) -If you can spot more than three people who appear to be under 25, take a drink. (There are two of them at 0:46, the are wearing matching shirts.)
-If you hear Christie mention the great State of New Jersey, take a drink.

Chris Christie, once considered a frontrunner for the Republican nomination, hasseen his fortunes decline over questions surrounding the politically motivated lane closures on the George Washington Bridge and the subsequent traffic jams in Ft. Lee, New Jersey. Christie was never implicated in the scandal, but it did its damage.
In the two-minute video, Christie connects his often confrontational style with his mother’s love — but he does it in a non-confrontational way.
He says in the video:
“I know if my mom were still alive, she’d say to me ‘I taught you that in a trusting relationship, you don’t hold anything back.’ And if you’re going to run for president of the united states, and you are going to ask these people for their vote, that is the single most trusting thing they can do as a citizen is to give you their support, so you better tell them exactly what you are thinking and exactly what you are feeling. And when you ask about my moral compass, that’s it. That’s it.” Thevideo is part of a campaign planthat Politico, citing Christie advisors, is a “bank shot strategy,” one that does without the piles of donor cash from the business establisment thatChristie can no longer count on.His hope is “that by exceeding expectations in debates and town hall events, and by performing well in a few select primary contests, he can re-establish himself as a top-tier candidate.”
