Jalen Hurts will work with a QB coach this offseason

It’s not uncommon for QB’s to work privately with other coaches during the offseason. Almost every successful QB has worked with a private coach and ended up showing better results the very next year.

Jalen Hurts is the latest signal caller to follow that trend.

Josh Allen’s meteoric rise came after two years working with Jordan Palmer. Tom House and Ken Mastrole, are just a few other names that have taken the likes of Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, and several others, to new heights.

Private QB Coaches also have had a positive impact in Philadelphia in the past. In 2017, Carson Wentz sought a private coach and ended up having the best season of his career.

It appears the new QB1 of the Eagles is also looking for private instruction.

Speaking to reporters early Tuesday morning at the NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Head Coach Nick Sirianni spoke about Hurts the QB, and his work with a private coach in Southern California.

Sirianni’s backing of Hurts has been consistent all offseason. While he did recognize the team needed to be better in the passing game, it’s clear Hurts is looking to make those improvements in the offseason.

General Manager Howie Roseman also reaffirmed just how excited the team was to see the improvements Hurts shows next season.

There’s a common theme among QB’s who came into the NFL with limitations to their game but with some tantalizing upside. Most suffer through their first couple of years, continue to improve on their game, and grow to become excellent passers.

While some fans and analysts may think that Hurts has reached his max potential this offseason, it’s pretty clear the Eagles and Hurts himself don’t think so. QB1 reaching out and working with private coaches only shows that he’s just scratched the surface on the QB he could become.
