There’s a brand new contender in the basketball vlogosphere.
The made-for-social vodcast series titled “Sideline Stories” stars content creator Marcelas Howard and Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain, who, in each episode, will be joined by special guests, delivering hot takes, reactions, and commentary throughout the tournament.
In their debut episode, McCain and Howard are joined by former Duke Blue Devil and Chicago Bull turned ESPN analyst Jay Williams. Topics of discussion include McCain and William’s days as Blue Devils, navigating relationships and financial discussions, their Duke all-time top fives, and much more.
McCain discusses Blue Devils
“That’s the thing with Duke because I think we have so much depth. And I say “we” like I’m part of the team, but my roots, my roots. But, yeah, I think the depth of the team is what makes them so good. So I think they’ll be fine regardless. But I do think, knowing Cooper, he wants to play as much as anybody. So yeah, I think he’ll be back, but I think they’ll be fine without him, too.”
“2025 National Champs, for sure. I mean, there are definitely some great teams. No disrespect to the SEC — great, great conference — love everything about it…. but I just think Duke.”
McCain on projected No. 1 pick, Cooper Flagg
“He came when I was at Duke for a visit and to scrimmage and stuff. So he scrimmages with us and you could just tell, I mean, obviously, you see everything online with him, but seeing it in person, like it just, I think the main thing with him, I’ve said it a bunch, but he just plays hard.

“You don’t see that in a lot of young talented guys. I feel like they rely on their talent, which they’re super talented, so it can get you really far. But I think with Cooper, the thing that sets him apart is he’s one of the best defenders in the country, just on defense and then offensively, obviously, [he] has the talent.”
McCain on his favorites from 2024-2025 squad
“My boy Caleb Foster, he’s like my best friend. That’s my guy, Kon, Kon Knupple. He’s cold, he’s smart, IQ, he can defend but, yeah, I think he’s I mean, we’ve talked, I’ve talked about this, but he surprised so many people when he first got there. I don’t think anyone really expected him to be what he is now, but seeing him in the summer, seeing him just how he works, and he asked me questions too. So, I always appreciate that, and I think that goes a long way. But Kon is cool. Kon is super cool.”
