Jason Kelce joining Eagles as a coach? ‘He can have a space on anything he wants on this Football team’

With Training Camp raging on, the Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of figuring out which players make the 53-man roster. What we didn’t know is that they could well be looking to sneak an extra man onto their coaching staff. Jason Kelce will forever be associated with the Birds, but his story with the team is far from over. In fact, a new chapter could just be beginning.

Kelce coaching? Don’t write it off

Hopping on the ‘Up and Adams’ show, Howie Roseman spoke glowingly of the future Hall of Famer and recalled Kelce’s help in scouting his eventual replacement, Cam Jurgens.

‘He’d be a heck of an evaluator, I tired to recruit him to work for me too because he can evaluate players. When we were in that Draft I gave him a few Centers that we really liked and he came out and he said Cam Jurgens.’

This is nothing new. Eagles fans are more than familiar with Jason’s involvement in bringing Cam Jurgens onto the roster, but what they weren’t aware of is how much Kelce is still involved with the team.

‘He’s in here all the time. Whether he’s working out or talking with the coaches,” Head Coach Nick Sirianni said when asked about Kelce’s rumored space in the coaches locker room. “Jason Kelce can have a space on anything he wants to do on this football team. I love him, I miss him….I can’t say enough good things about how much he meant to me as a coach. We love him.”

There may be no better name on the planet to coach the next generation of Philadelphia Eagles players, be it offensive line or otherwise, than a man who will go down as arguably the greatest of all time and truly understands what it takes to win in the City of Brotherly Love.

Will it ever happen? Only time will tell. For now, Jason Kelce is currently busy running an incredibly successful podcast with his brother Travis called ‘New Heights’, and will be joining ESPN’s Monday Night Football coverage for the coming season. However, we’ve learned never to say never when it comes to this legendary player, and a large part of his heart will always be in Philadelphia. Fans, coaches, and players alike would welcome him with open arms should he ever want to get back into the game, so now it’s just a matter of whether Kelce ever feels that fire burning once again to do so.
