Jefferson ‘tops off’ $762 million Speciality Care Pavilion

Jefferson Health on Tuesday celebrated the “topping off” of its $762 million Speciality Care Pavilion, marking the move to a new phase of construction.

The 19-story building, located at 11th and Chestnut streets, is expected to open in 2024 and will include more than 300 exam rooms, 58 infusion chairs and 10 operating rooms, Jefferson Health officials said.

“The Specialty Care Pavilion represents an exciting new era for Jefferson Health, and for the health of the Philadelphia region,” said Dr. Bruce A. Meyer, president of Jefferson Health, in a statement.

“The completion of this revolutionary healthcare facility will allow us to further our commitment to drive transformation, increase access, and improve the patient experience,” he added.

Jefferson representatives said the building is being developed in collaboration with the National Real Estate Development LLC, which has worked on a number of projects in the area around the Speciality Care Pavilion.

“This building is the final piece to our East Market development, which has revitalized the East Market Street corridor into an attractive destination to live, work and visit since we broke ground more than seven years ago,” Daniel Killinger, the company’s president, said.

Mayor Jim Kenney and hundreds of construction workers who have been assigned to the project joined Tuesday’s ceremony.
