Jet Wine Bar raises a glass to PA wines with Happy Hour series

Known as the city’s own “global vineyard,” Jet Wine Bar is raising a glass to Pennsylvania Wine Month with a multi-week celebration through a series of Meet the Maker Happy Hours.

Taking place every Thursday this month from 5 to 8 p.m., vino lovers can indulge in flights and bites as well as sip on Jet Wine Bar’s signature wine flights after each event (or until the wines are sold out). And while in the next-door Jet Wine Garden (decked out with foliage and outdoor art) there will also be access to a variety of wines from around the state.

The spotlighted makers will include those from hyper-local wineries like Mural City Cellars in Kensington to Mazza Vineyards from Erie, Pennsylvania, to 1723 Vineyards in Landenberg, Pennsylvania, as a release states. All events are first come, first served and pay-as-you-go.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating Pennsylvania Wine Month and featuring some of our favorite local wineries,” said Nick Baitzel, Director of Operations at Sojourn Philly in a statement. “If there’s one thing we know, it’s good wine. Pennsylvania Wine Month presents a fun opportunity to showcase winemakers all in our home state, which provides some contrast to our typical ongoing rotation of global wines.”

To kick off the month on Oct. 6, Jet Wine Bar will be showcasing a few different options for vino from five premier local wineries: Karamoor Estates, Stony Run, Mazza Vineyards, 1723 Vineyards, and Mural City Cellars. Flights of five wines, featuring one from each winery, will be available for $29 this Thursday.

The following week, on Oct. 13, local Kensington winery Mural City Cellars will be offering several options for guests, including the Mural City Cellar Flight, with CSW White, Rosé, and Red ($20), Mural City Cellar’s Taso Chardonnay by the bottle ($60), and a special glass pour of Mural City Cellar’s Summer Vermouth for ($15).

Then later on in the month on Oct. 20, family-owned Mazza Vineyards who hails from Erie, will be serving up their ever-expanding collection (which has been around since 1972) including the Pinot Grigio ($10), L’Anima Rosé ($12), Traminette ($10), or a flight of all three options ($15).

Then, for the final Happy Hour, Jet Wine Bar will host 23 Vineyards—owned by fifth-generation farmers from the mid-west who have a passion for great wine—who will be offering a few varieties of their vino, including the Chardonel ($15), Cabernet Franc Rosé ($15), Cabernet Franc ($15), or a flight of all three options ($20).

As a release states, additionally, wine lovers are also encouraged to enroll in the Jet Wine Club, a monthly program for any aspiring sommelier that includes two bottles of wine each month, priority access to wine tastings, access to the newsletter, discounts, and more. Guests can sign up online on Jet Wine Bar’s website.

Located at 1525 South Street, Jet Wine Bar’s hours of operation are Sunday noon to 8 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday noon to 11 p.m. Happy hour is available Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. For more information. visit jetwinebar.com
