The National Museum of American Jewish History in Center City has been renamed in honor of donor Stuart Weitzman, a shoe designer and philanthropist. Weitzman, who attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, made a generous donation that helped the museum buy back its building, which was purchased by a former trustee during bankruptcy.
The donation also ensured the museum would have a lasting endowment.
On Monday night, the institution hosted the “Miracle on the Mall” gala to celebrate supporters and the museum’s future.
