An Elkins Park man and his friend, two of the three Americans detained in Iran since July 2009 since dubbed the “American hikers,” had the second part of their trial delayed once again today.
Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer were scheduled to go before a court magistrate in Tehran, Iran’s capitol, earlier today, but their attorney told the Associated Press that the trial has yet again been delayed. No reason was given for the delay.
Metro expects to talk with Fattal’s family later today from their home in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham, just north of Philadelphia.
A third American who was also arrested in 2009 with Fattal and Bauer, Sarah Shourd, has since been released and is back in America. She is being tried in absentia. The three were detained and then imprisoned by Iranian authorities while hiking along the border of Iraq and Iran. They have been charged with espionage.
