Just another game for McNabb, Vick

It’s Donovan McNabb week. Finally.

After serving as the face of the franchise for 11-plus seasons, McNabb is no longer a Philadelphia Eagle. He was shipped off to Washington last April and will line up opposite his former team this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

McNabb’s counterpart will be his former protege, Michael Vick. Emotions have to be running high for both players, right?

“For me it’s just another game, and I’m pretty sure Donovan feels the same way,” Vick said.

“I’ve always said that I look at it just like a normal game,” McNabb said on his weekly radio show on ESPN 980 in Washington. “It wouldn’t matter if it were the Cowboys or the Giants.”

Maybe, but maybe not. Given the past history, the Eagles’ defense could have an advantage when game-planning against a quarterback it saw every day in practice for 11 years. Then again, McNabb probably has some insight on the Eagles’ tendencies as well.

“I think it goes both ways,” Eagles defensive end Trent Cole said. “But no matter if you know all of our plays, we have a fast defense that’s going to be hard to stop.”

Either way, McNabb said he believes he’ll be “more cheered” by the fans. “We had a successful 11 years,” he said.
