Kathleen Kane cannot have her law license back: Supreme Court

Attorney General Kathleen Kane is still without a license to practice lawafter the state Supreme Court on Friday unanimously rejected her request that it reverse its suspension, reports said.

The decision helps pave the way for her removal via the state Senate’s direct address process, according to PennLive.com. Kane had filed a petition with the Supreme Court for the license reinstatement on the eve of a hearing by the Senate committee that then recommended delaying a possible Senate removal until the court had its say.

Kane argued in her request that a September 5-0 decision suspending her license was “‘incurably tainted’ by the participation of Justice J. Michael Eakin, who is now facing misconduct charges because of his involvement in the so-called Porngate scandal,” Philly.com stated.

According to Philly.com, the Supreme Courtmade its decision Friday on technical grounds because she had filed her objection too late.

Kane’s “claims of bias are untimely and are not properly before this Court for consideration,” the court said in its order, according to Philly.com.

“The attorney general is disappointed but not surprised by the court’s decision,” Kane spokesman Chuck Ardo said, according to PennLive.com.
