Philadelphia police have charged a Kensington man with killing his girlfriend in a shooting at their home Saturday night.
Kuldip Singh, 28, of East Seltzer Street, is charged with murder and possessing an instrument of crime in connection with the death of 26-year-old Sherell Baker. He is being held without bail.
Baker was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to her chest at Episcopal Hospital shortly after 8:30 Saturday night. She had been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, police said.
Police were called to East Seltzer Street at 7:49 p.m. Saturday on a report of a fight.
Neighbors told police a fight broke out between two men when one of them pulled a gun and fired a single shot. Singh told police he accidentally shot his live-in girlfriend during the fight.
The second man involved in the fight was gone by the time police arrived on scene.
