A man was in “extremely critical condition” and three other people were hospitalized after gunfire erupted Tuesday night in Kensington, police said.
The shooting happened at around 9 p.m. on the 3200 block of G Street, not far from Kensington and Allegheny avenues, according to authorities.
One of the victims, a 20-year-old man, was fighting for his life at Temple University Hospital after being shot six times through his body, authorities said.
A 23-year-old man sustained two gunshot wounds to his right leg, and a 40-year-old woman was also shot in her right leg, investigators said. A 20-year-old man was struck in the arm. All three were being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police data indicates that the number of people shot this year in Philadelphia — 727, as of Aug. 27 — is down 40% compared to the same date in 2023.
