Kobe Bryant pimping out high school court

We know many of you out there hate Kobe Bryant. It’s no secret his hometown has never really embraced him. Sometimes, it’s just hard to look past that Lakers uniform.

Still, the former Lower Merion standout continues to give back to the community. On Monday, he sold a piece of the hardwood from the Main Gym at Lower Merion High School.

The artifact is described as such:

This piece of hardwood floor is from the Main Gym at Lower Merion High School, Kobe’s home court during an extraordinary schoolboy career. In four varsity seasons, Kobe scored nearly 3,000 points and led the Aces to their first state title in 42 years. It was from the Lower Merion court that Kobe announced his entry into the 1996 NBA Draft, becoming the first guard ever drafted out of high school. Five NBA titles later, Kobe continues to make history. For a basketball fan, this is an amazing, one-of-a kind sports artifact. (100% of the proceeds benefit the KVBFF.)

The flooring, which was also autographed by Kobe, sold for $2,550.00 (plus $150.00 shipping). There were 37 bids. The best part? Proceeds went to the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation.
